Sales Manager | Steel Trading

Job Summary:
Drive regional and global steel commercial activities, building profitable partnerships across key markets.
Responsibilities: Trading & Business Development
- Drive profitable trading of hot-rolled plates (HRP), long products, and slabs sourced mainly from Southeast Asian and Chinese mills.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities with stockists, traders, contractors, and distributors across regional and international markets.
- Build and maintain strong supplier and customer relationships to support sustainable, repeat trading activities.
Regional Market Trading
- Manage trading of Japanese mill hot-rolled plates with stockists and traders in Singapore.
- Coordinate supply of ERSS-related steel products to contractors in Singapore through multi-supplier collaboration.
- Develop and manage trading across Southeast Asia, Australia, India, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas.
Commercial & Transaction Management
- Prepare and manage cost sheets covering product pricing, freight, logistics, and foreign exchange considerations.
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and contracts to strengthen competitive positioning and profitability.
- Work closely with logistics, shipping, and operations teams to ensure timely and efficient order execution.
Market Intelligence
- Monitor global steel market trends, pricing movements, and supply–demand developments.
- Conduct competitor analysis and gather market insights to identify new trading opportunities and associated risks.
- Provide regular market updates and trading reports to management.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in steel, metal, or commodities trading.
- Strong product knowledge in HRP, rebar/sections, and slabs; familiarity with ERSS applications is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills for cost sheet preparation, margin analysis, freight calculations, and FX considerations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills across diverse markets and cultures.
- Ability to handle multiple transactions in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Willingness to travel for supplier meetings, customer visits, and business development purposes.
- Existing networks with regional steel mills, traders, or contractors is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with international trade documentation, shipping logistics, and import/export processes is an added advantage.
