Operating Theatre Technician / Assistant [AWS + Bonuses Available]

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare operating rooms, instruments, equipment, and supplies according to scheduled procedures
  • Inspect, clean, and maintain operating lights, suction, diathermy machines, operating tables, and accessories
  • Fetch, transfer, position, and hand over patients safely before and after procedures
  • Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures by maintaining sterile fields, adjusting lights, and anticipating procedural needs
  • Participate in surgical time-out procedures and assist with documentation of patient care records
  • Assist in specimen collection, labeling, handling, dressing application, and securing of drains
  • Perform inventory checks and routine cleaning of operating theatre equipment and positioning aids
  • Clean, disinfect, and restock operating rooms between cases and perform terminal cleaning in accordance with infection control protocols
  • Dispose of soiled linen and clinical waste in compliance with biohazard and safety guidelines
  • Maintain housekeeping of operating theatres, prep rooms, scrub rooms, anesthesia rooms, sluice rooms, and pantry areas
  • Transport patients between wards, operating theatres, and recovery areas as required
  • Participate in in-service education, continuous development activities, and support orientation of new staff or students

Requirements:

  • WSQ Higher Certificate in Healthcare Support (Operating Theatre Support) or relevant experience as an Operating Theatre Technician.
  • ITE Certificate or Diploma in Healthcare Support, Nursing, Operating Theatre Support, or a related discipline is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of operating theatre procedures, equipment handling, and infection control practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrated initiative, willingness to learn, and commitment to continuous professional development.
