Responsibilities:

  • Operate and support daily TSSU activities including receiving, decontamination, inspection, packing, sterilisation, storage, and distribution of surgical items
  • Operate washer-disinfectors, dryers, ultrasonic washers, and sterilizers in accordance with established standards
  • Perform and evaluate sterilisation test indicators to ensure equipment effectiveness and compliance
  • Manage inventory of sterile linen and surgical consumables, ensuring timely issuance to clinical areas
  • Monitor and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for all TSSU equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of TSSU work and storage areas
  • Demonstrate proper use, care, and handling of equipment and instruments
  • Report equipment defects and coordinate repair or replacement with relevant parties
  • Identify damaged instruments and escalate repair or replacement needs to the In-Charge
  • Liaise with Operating Theatre staff on required consignment instrument sets
  • Supervise and guide junior staff to ensure safe and efficient workflow
  • Maintain accurate instrument tracking records and system data
  • Communicate critical information and handovers clearly to supervisors and team members
  • Participate in service quality improvement and adhere to current healthcare practices

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Engineering or relevant technical qualification.
  • WSQ Higher Certificate in Healthcare Support (Sterilisation Services) is an added advantage.
  • At least one year of experience as an Instrument Technical Assistant or relevant experience in CSSD/TSSU is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.
  • Good command of written English for documentation and professional communication with healthcare colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
